Happily Ever After: Rethought
Happily Ever After: Rethought follows newlyweds Amy and Manuel after they inherit his grandfather's house and bar. It should be the start of a happy life together. Then Manuel's adoptive brother Daniel moves in, takes a job at the bar, and grows close to Amy. You play through the story from Amy's perspective as the marriage begins to change.
Amy's character model and outfits are the clearest visual draw, and the reworked game follows a visual novel structure rather than the sandbox described in older reviews. Choices and relationship points let you influence some encounters, but the central cheating story and Daniel's route are unavoidable. Other character routes are optional, which helps if you have a particular version of the story in mind.
The pace works for players who want the tension to build without waiting forever, though the writing doesn't always make Amy's changing feelings convincing. She can seem eager one day and reluctant the next, and some dialogue choices lead to much the same result. Manuel's trusting nature also stretches belief at times. This is a straightforward NTR story with attractive renders, still working on the character depth its premise deserves.
