Dreams of Desire Military academy is waiting, and the protagonist wants no part of it. His way out appears in the form of an old book that teaches him how to influence the mind. At first, he uses that knowledge to solve problems close to home. Before long, he is dealing with dreamlike visions, hostile forces, and consequences that reach far beyond his original plan.

Dreams of Desire is primarily a first-person visual novel. Most of your time is spent reading dialogue and deciding how the protagonist responds. Short point-and-click sections break up the conversations by asking you to search a room, find an item, or revisit a location. There is also a sandbox-style minigame, but this is not a free-roaming sandbox; the main story still advances episode by episode.

The game does not always mark the correct next step. A key, a set of papers, or another small object may be required before a scene can continue, and the clue may have appeared several conversations earlier. If progress seems to stop, check the available rooms again before assuming the game has ended.

Choices made early in the story can close off scenes or affect an ending several episodes later. There are seven endings in total, plus multiple character paths. The consequences are not always obvious when a decision is made, so keep several manual saves if you want to compare routes without replaying the opening chapters.

This edition contains all twelve episodes, the three-chapter Lost Memories story, the Holiday Special, dozens of extra scenes, a Scene and Extras Gallery, more than 5,000 rendered images, and over 460 animations. A main-story run is roughly five to six hours, while exploring additional scenes and endings can take closer to eight hours.

The later chapters move beyond the original mind-control setup and into darker material involving violence, death, and sexual coercion. It is intended for adults and may not suit players looking for a light dating sim. Players who enjoy plot-driven corruption games, route hunting, and realistic 3D renders will get more from it than players seeking constant action.
