Burns Mansion lets players jump into Springfield instantly on mobile, with no download needed. Mr. Burns has somehow managed to put his enormous fortune at risk, and his newly discovered adult relative arrives to help keep the family business afloat. As Springfield's most overworked unpaid intern, the newcomer has a whole town of errands, secrets, and familiar faces to contend with.
Rather than moving through a straight line of dialogue, the game opens up Springfield for exploration. Character quests send the protagonist between locations, often requiring an item or another person's help before a story can continue. Its cartoon-inspired art captures the setting well, and a large adult cast gives the sandbox plenty of encounters, including lewd scenes and surprisingly polished animations.
The freedom comes with some friction. Certain events depend on the right day and time, quest hints can be vague, and several character stories still reach an end-of-content notice before their payoff. Burns Mansion is most enjoyable when approached as a sprawling parody to poke around in, especially for players who like recognizing the faces and places that turn up along the way.
