In for a Penny
In for a Penny gives its protagonist a mission that's difficult to take seriously: the Overseers place him among a town full of women and expect him to win them all over. He has questions about why he's there, and not everyone he meets is pleased with the arrangement. The premise grows into a mix of harem comedy, science fiction, and mysteries about the people running the show.
What makes this more fun than its setup suggests is the cast. There are an enormous number of characters, yet several have distinct voices and agendas. Sister Anne, in particular, brings a lot of the humor. Little details about the town and how it changes over time also suggest there's more thought behind this bizarre situation than the opening lets on. It's a long, mostly linear story, so expect to read and spend time with the characters rather than shape separate routes.
The size of that cast cuts both ways. It can be hard to remember everyone, conversations sometimes run longer than they need to, and frequent spelling errors distract from the better dialogue. Early animations are stiff, some scenes are poorly lit, and the gallery isn't especially helpful for keeping track of characters. Still, if you enjoy a silly premise that occasionally surprises you with its world and personalities, there's plenty to get caught up in here.
