Selara is a sci-fi visual novel you can play instantly in your browser on PC and mobile. Eighty years after leaving Earth, you wake from cryostasis to find a mutiny aboard The Herald. As its new Commander, you must hold the crew together, repair damaged food and water supplies, and find a future for humanity’s dwindling population. The people closest to you include a shipboard AI, a squad leader, a medical scientist, and an engineer.

The story moves beyond the mutiny into alien territory, with choices and character stats influencing some of your successes and failures. A failed attempt can lead to its own outcome, though major story events remain more fixed than that premise might suggest. You’ll also spend time exploring locations and speaking with the crew, sometimes needing to visit everyone before the story continues.

Selara has an appealing space-survival setup and a varied cast to get to know. Its renders and animations are uneven, and the story can rush from a crisis into romance before relationships feel fully developed. The game is fully voiced using AI-generated voices, which you can turn off if you prefer to read. It’s still in development, with more of the crew’s journey left to unfold.
